Enquire about a tourTwo caves, eight centuries, one gentle walk
A tour begins on the riverside path and takes in both caves: Mother Ludlam’s, with its legend of the white witch and her cauldron, and the quieter hollow of Father Foote’s, a short walk upstream. Along the way: the Ludwell spring that watered Waverley Abbey, the grotto years, the roof fall of the early 1960s, and the restoration under way today.
Groups are kept small and the pace is easy. Routes are set and safe, the walk-in is short and flat, and there’s time to stand in the doorway, listen to the water, and let the past feel close. Tours are arranged on request; tell us the dates you have in mind and we’ll take it from there.
This is stewardship as much as sightseeing: every visit helps keep the caves cared for.
